The second-hand marketplace Shoppers Voice Anger Over Size Modifications
Members of the platform have expressed outrage due to a modification that led to items being listed as the wrong size.
The popular resale platform has revised its size classifications for female and kids' apparel failing to inform all shoppers about the modification.
Digital Channels Response
Countless users and merchants are posting online stating that platform listings now display an altered size classification versus the original listing because of the remapping.
The company said the updated approach better aligns with comparable marketplaces.
The platform has recommended to check their listings and adjust the sizing manually where appropriate, resulting in member annoyance.
Sizing System Modifications
Previously, the sizes had both one number and one letter, such as S/8 or M/10.
The updated approach includes an alphabetical indicator and numerical range for example S/UK 8-10.
With some products, the size labels have been reassigned - for example a size L was formerly size 12 but now shows as UK 16-18.
Member Stories
A fashion influencer, who produces content about larger sizing, explained the modification "makes transactions more difficult".
"Few clothing companies classify XL as 20-22," the way the service now categorizes.
Stephanie Gallen, located in Scotland, stated items she posted with size 14 tags were appearing on the platform as measurements 20-22.
"If buyers measuring 20-22 acquire them they may become frustrated," she said.
Required Changes
Another shopper, based in Derby, stated she felt frustrated by the change as she had to manually change the sizing for "all her products".
"Personally, this is quite irritating, because of my ongoing medical condition and platform income has been essential after experiencing income reduction," she stated.
Marketplace Information
The service features exceeding 100 million users, with 18 million British users.
It has become a favored option versus similar marketplaces including eBay and Depop.
This is not the initial instance when a surprising modification to the app has proved unpopular: previously, the service retracted a modification regarding delivery choices after backlash from users.
